Is this Escher or BürklI? Who is who in the gallery high above the Bahnhofstrasse? The first portrait, going from the lake Zurich side in direction to Zurich main station, is Boris Dreiding. He founded the perfumery Osswald in 1921, which is family managed to this day. And the other historical personalities? The adhevsives and the brochure, that is available for free in different stores along the Bahnhofstrasse, will give you further information. You can find them also here at a glance (in german).
A one-armed bandit let rotate the product world in the large windows of the Migros City (Schanzengraben side). The beginning were colourful boxes at the turn of the 19th century. They served as an alternative to the current card games. Since then you heared the sound of moving the lever and the jingle all over the world. The iconic fruits always rotated brikly but not every one focussed on the money. In former times also chewing gums and other sweeties tumbled out of the machine after moving the lever. The «Fruit Machine» by the Migros Zurich ties up to these former times of playing pleasure.
In contrast to his colleagues, this installation is a very special one. You can move the oversized lever without investing money. Just challenge your luck! Enjoy the summerly gimmick and look up to the façade. In any case you will win the view to expressive, digital illustrations. And if, once or twice, four similar fruits appear at the façade, you will have a reason to jubilate. A summer fun for young and old. The illustrations of the young designer Martin Stöcklin are also shown in the form of flags in the Löwenstrasse.
15,000 balloons, 5 sculptures, 1 week! The artist Jason Hackenwerth is in demand worldwide for his balloon sculptures. He and his «right-hand-woman» Leah Blair travelled from the United States to Zurich in order to create the project «Summerfugl» in the Technopark. On board they had about 40,000 balloons! Three dedicated helper from the Technopark team were on there side. At the third day the first two sculptures have already been installed. A short-lived artwork? With his giant sculptures Jason Hackenwerth invites the people to realise and to enjoy the moment. To pause for a moment in the busy everyday life, to slow down and to notice consciously all the beautiful moments and things around us.
